Diphtheria Immunisation Parents of children between the ages of six months and seven years are reminded ^ that diptheria immunisation injections will be given at the district nurse's rooms, Plimmer Terrace, on Wednesday. morning at 9.30 a.m. The immunisation is free and parents with children who have not been injected are invited ( to attend at that time. Those requiring second injections are also invited to attend at 9.30 a.m. Speed-boat Trial One of the entrants m the Palmerston North to Foxton boat race which is being hel'd over the holiday period was trying out his craft on the Manawatu River, near the Shannon Bridge, on Saturday morning. The trim red, white and blue outboard speed-boat attracted rriuch attention as it made'several trial runs along the stretch of water. Excellent speed was recorded an'd the owner, a Palmerston North enthusiast, was well satisfied with his morning run. It is understood that the boats in the race will spend the night at a camp site near the bridge during the race. Amateur Athletics A further effort is being made to form an amateur athletic club in the Shannon district, and an invitation is extended to all interested persons to attend a meeting in Laurvig's Hall on Wednesday evening at 7.30 p.m. A few years ago Shannon had an excellent athletic club and many successful meetings were held. Now that the town has some very promising young athletes, it is hoped that they will be given the opportunity to come before the public. Offlcials from neighbouring clubs will be present : to address * the meeting. A good gathering of interested persons is requested to assist these promising juveniles.
