Shortage of Drovers
The retirement during the past few months of a number of older drovers has brought about a notable shortage of -drovers in the Wairarapa, a shortage that promises to reach serious proportions in the near future. Very few young men have taken up droving over the past 15 years, and the high wages and more settled conditions offered by local industries are providing a more attractive labouf market.
