MAKERUA CALF CLUB

GOOB ATTENDANCE AT JUDGING At the Makerua School grounds last week there was a good attendance of parents and children, as well as several visitors, to witness the judging of the calves and pet lambs entered in the school calf club competitions. Mr. A. Horn, of Levin, judged the entries, which comprised four calves and two lambs. He complimented the children on the excellent appearance of the calves, and gave a short talk on points to look for in judging for best dairy types. The following" are the results: — Care and attention (senior) : Helen Taylor 1, Keith Bishop 2. Dairy type: Keith Bishop. Care and attention (junior) : Catherine Taylor 1, Julie Gordon 2. Cup donated by Shannon Dairy Company: Catherine Taylor. In the lamb section Nora Quinn's entry was first and Erin Quinn's second.
