TASMAN AIRWAYS RADIO MEN ON STRIKE
AUCKLAND, Dec. 5. Radio operators of Tasman Airways are on strike, and there will be no flight from Auckland to Sydney today. The dispute on wages and conditions for aircrew radio operators has reaehed a' deadlock, resulting in the operators refusing to man. i the flying boats today. All four of the company's Tasman class flying . boats are in Auckland and it is not known when the service will be resumed. The company has eight radio operators, who are members of the New Zealand Radio Officers' Union. According to the union advocate, Mr. J. H. Collins, of Wellington, the company had stated that the union could agree to the terms offered, which involved about £250 yeayly below the union's request, or the j matter would go to arbitration. As | a result he had informed the company that the union members would not man the planes today.
