PARAPARAUMU NOTES
The Beaeh branch of the Ladies' Guild of St. Paul'se held its last meeting of the year at the beautiful home of Mrs. Saunders, Paraparaumu Beach. There was a goo'd attendance and the saies cable was instrumental in greatly adding to the funds. Competitions were held and aftcrnoon tea was served. The Paraparaumu Women's Institute held its eighteenth birthday party in the Anglican Hall, presided over by Mrs. Hadfield. There was a large attendance and many visitors from far and near. Mrs. Hadfield extended a hearty welcome to those present, and hoped they would all have a happy time. The birthday cake was sent to the link, Hillingdon, overseas. An excellent programme of entertainment was provided. Mesdames Thompson, Jolly and Wright, accoinpanied by Mrs. Lee, entertained with several delightful songs. A play reading by Mesdames Wright, McLean, Hickman, Caterer and Crawfoid, was thoroughly cnjoyed by all. The puppet show produced by Mrs. Weston was outstanding for its originality and humour. Those taking part in it were Mesdames Hand, Hickman, Weston, McLean, Crawford, Caterer, Wright, Mclsaac, Hardliam and Simpson. Mrs. Hadfield and _Miss Clarkson had charge of the curtain. A stall in aid of institute funds was well patronised. Aftcrnoon tea was served. A confiimation service, conducted by the Bishop of Wellington, Rt. Pt,ev. R. H. Owen, was held in St. Paul's Anglican Churcli. A large number ot candidates were presented for confirmation. Afterwards members of the Mothers' Union served tea ana had an opportunity of meeting the Bishop and his wife.
