Personal , , . . , The death has occurred at his residence, Queen Street, Levin, of Mr. Joseph Baines, father of Mr. Ernie Baines, of Te Horo. The deceased was in his 70th year. Leslie, son of Mr. and Mrs. L. G. Gimblett, is at present in hospital in Wellington suffering from severe head injuries received on Sunday night, when a car in which he was being given a ride capsized in the vicinity of Paremata, falling into about four feet of water. Twelve stitches were inserted in the wound. Leslie was accompariied by his br other, Jack, and two others, who had given them a ride, their motor-cycle having developed engine tronbls. All four occupants of the car were injured, receivlng cuts and hruises, but Leslie fared the worst. Maori Mission Sunday * Next Sunday is Maori Mission Sunday at all the Anglican Churches. The preacher at All Saints' Church, Otaki, at the evening seervice will be the Rev. Paora Temuera. Vital Statistics The vital statistics registered at Otaki for November were: — Births: European 15, Maori 1. Deaths: European 1, Maoris nil. There were three marriages, one of which was performed at the registrar's offlce. Pension Paynients Pensions will be paid out as foilows during December: Family allowance 011 the 11th, age pensions on the 16th, universal superannuation and orphans, invalids and minors pensions 011 the 17th, \ war pensions and veterans' allowances on the 18th. Memorial Rose Bowl The memorial rose bowl, given in memory of the late Ossie Pussell, who lost his life during the war, is at present on view in the "Chroniele" office window in Otaki. It will be competed for at the sports to be held at Otaki in January.

Rainfall in Otaki -The rainfall in Otaki for November totalled 1.52 inches. Rain feli on seven days, the highest fall being 59 points on the 29th. There were two frosts, but only minor damage was done. On the whole it was a beautiful summer month, with a marked absence of wind. The dry conditions were greatly relieved with 1.17 inches of rain which feil 011 the last two days of the month. November'S fall last year was 2.83 inches, with 17 days of rain. It was. also a very windy month.
