INFORMATION TO I'ABEXTS The headmaster of the Shannon Public Sehool, Mr. F. O. Burtt, advises in connection with the closing of the school as a precaution against paralysls that pupils or- parents may call at the school during Thursday, Dfecember 4, .to collect books, reports and property. School library books and. text books should be returned .to the school immediately. The calf club's final judging has been aban'doned. There will be no further meetings of the Parents' and Teachers' Association this year. Mr. Burtt reports that the school Dux for the year is Gregor Smith. The Dux was decided by examination, except in arithmetic, where the average of recorded tests was taken The House points for the year are: — Scholastic shield: Tui House; sports shield: Tui House. These shields and the trophies attached to the calf club will be presented early in 1948. Teachers of the Shannon, Opiki, Tokomaru, Makerua and Koputaroa Schools will be holding refresher classes at the local school from Friday of this week. Christmas Party Cancelled The secretary of the Shannon branch of the Returned Services' Association, Mr. E. J. Gunning, advises that the children's Christmas party arranged by the women's section, which was to have been held on Saturday next, has now been cancelled owing to the infa-n-tile paralysis precautions. Mr. V. Guerin, secretary of the Shannon Home Services' Association, advises that the chil'dren's party arranged by his branch has also been cancelled.
