DARING EXPERIMENT

NEW YORK, Nov. 30. Herbert Eischier, ehief test pilot oi the Curtis Wright Corporation, made the iirst test- of ' 1 backing-up ' ' an aeroplane in flight by simultaneously reversing all four propellers of a Douglas transport plane. The test was nmde at 12,000 feet when the aircraft was flying vat 15ur miles an hour. The pilot said the reversing of the ]propellers reduced tio aircraft 's speed rapidly and demonstrated that this operation would faeilitate forced landings. The reversing of all the propellers simultaneously had not been tried pi^viously, for fear the aircraft would stall and erash.
