GISBORNE, Dec. 2. Faced with an appeal irom the Ma\ or of Furtwangen, in Frenchciccupied Germany, for some smah aid m feeciing the sick in the village hospitai, the Cook Hospitai Board has decided to make an inquiiy through the French Consular Ser\ice as to the genuineness of the appeal. The Mayor's letter mentioned that 50 New Zealand hospitai authorities had been appealed to for one or two small parcels for the relief of the hospitai staff and sick. The medical superintendent, Dr. R. J. B. Hail, mentioned that he had received a personal appeal from a nurse in training at Duisberg, in British-occupied Germany, for aid in procuring medical books for training purposes. Tne circumstances auoted by the nurse, who had been widowed by the war had been submitted by him to the British control authority. A member mentioned that he had also had an appeal from a' nurse at Duisberg, but in this case food was sought-
