MINISTER DECLINES COMMUNIST'S CHALLENGE
WELLINGTON, Nov. 30. The Minister of Rehabilitation (Hon. C. F. Skinuer) has» deeliued the chailenge of Mr. A. Galbraith, of Ihe New Zealand Communist Party, to a public de'nate in Westport and Greymouth. Thc Minister states he is decliniug the elmllenge, whicli was not unexpected, not because of any apprehension about the outcome but because there were many more effective ways of aiding P>ritain to whieh he wislted to apply lumself. Tlie Minister adds tliat he made no slighting remarks about Indian and Chinese students who were members of tlie Communist party in the United Kingdom, and anvone knowing him a little better than Y(r.
