LOCAL SCHOOLS CLOSED
In accordance with the instructions of the Director-General of Health, the Levin Public School and Horowhenua College di'd not open this morning and will remain closed until further notice. Horowhenua College All end-of-year functions have been ab'andoned, advises the principal of Horowhenua College, Mr. N. A. Byrne. Students in the Levin district will be allowed to go to the college to collect their books, and it is hoped that the Education Department will make provision for buses to run one day this week from the country districts for the same purpose. If this is possible an announcement will be made over the radio and in the local paper. |' Parents of students who have i completed models in the workshops may interview instructors and col- . lect the work any day this week. j The Same will apply to the dress- ! making classes. At the Otaki j School, Mr. M. H. Boyce will be i present on Wednesday- and Thurs- ! day to allow pupils to collect their I work. Primary school pupils who I attend the college for woodwork ! instruction are advised that Mr. Boyce will be present on Monday, Tuesday and Friday. • The Pitman's shorthand examination, which w.as to have been held tomorrow has been cancelled, and pupils concerned will be notified when it will take place. Levin School Children attending the Levin Public School will be allowed to collect all bookS during the early part of this week. It was fortunate that all examinations had been completed except arithmetic, said the headmaster, Mr. H. F. McClune, when interview today. Children who are members of the school Country Library Service are reminded that all books must be returned. Arrangements have been made for the collection of these at the school any day this week. It is likely that teachers will be required to remain at the schools for the next two or three weeks in order that all renorts and work
may be completed.
