Meredith, cojupleted his opening submissions when. the Court resumod. The jury had previouslv inspecte:! the seene of the tragedy nnd the house in Newton oceupied by accused. The evidence of the liuslmud, Eiciiaru Alfred Rusden, was not completed unt.il after the luncheon adjourrimenr and the senior defence counsel, Mr. M. Robinsou, spent two hours on his crosSexamination. The ouly other withess heard was a 13-year-old lioy who claimed to have seen a woman whom he oelieved' was Mrs. Rusden, th rough a window at her home, at about 8.80 on the inoruing of her death.
