COMING-OF-AGE CELEBRATION

A very pleasant evening was held in the Te Horo Hall recently, ihe occasion being the 21st birthday of Gwen, the eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. K. Spiers. There ; were visitors from Christchurch, Wellington, Palmerston North and Pahiatua, 200 being present. Dancing was indulged in and Mr. Maybe, accompanied by Mr. Pickering, entertained with several humorous monologues. A sumptuous supper was served, following which ' the candles were lit and the cake cut. The toast of the guest of the evening was proposed by her father, Gwen suitably replying. Mr. R. Jenkins proposed the toast of Mr. and Mrs. Spiers, and Mr. Vic Cottle of . Mrs. Muir, Gwen's grandmother. Dancing was continued till a very late hour, and the evening closed with the singing of "Auld Lang Syne."
