said the Government had received many reports of murders, rape, torture, disfigurement of bodies and other liorrible atrocities committed on both sides. The British Ambassador had brought them to the notiee of the Greek Government and the Minister of Public Order, M. Rendis, had immediately reissued orders against the display of heads and beating of prisoners. Major Mayhew added that the Foreign Secretary considered the withdrawal of the British military and police missions from Greece at this stage would not be warranted
