Several members will visit the Palmerston North Hospital early this month to distribute Christmas gifts to patients in the tuberculosis ward. Prisoners Sentenced Prisoners were sentenced by Mr. Justice Blair in the supreme court at Gisborne today. Arlen Laneeford Priestley, a Maori, received two and a half years' hard labour for theft, the Judge stating that prisoner was getting near the stage when he might be declared an habitual criminal. Rangi Maria Pomoiwi, a Maori, was admitted to probation for 12 months for receiving a stolen cow. Mei Pohaikura Ngatai, a Maori, was sentenced two years' reformative de-* ' tention for breaking and catering; with intent to commit a crime. A further chapter of Betty Macdonald's own story, "The Egg and I," heads the impyessive list of ; apiusing stories featured in the- : November "Australian Journal." Rex Grayson, Samuel W.
