IMPROVEMENTS AT SCHOOL
■ COMMITTEE MEETS BOARD S ARCHITECT Members of the Otaki State School Committee yesterday met Mr. Drummond, the Wellington Education Board's architect, and discussed with him various matters affecting the school. The site for the swimming baths was well discussed and it was agreed that the best locality was behind the schoolmaster's residence. The urgent need foi the baths was emphasised to the architect, the. committee pointing out .that many years ago it had raised £200 for the purpose. The matter of securing adjacent land for improving the playing area to give facilities for further buildings, when necessary, was considered, while plans were shown of the proposed new classrooms, which woul'd obviate sending children to the tempora-ry classroom at the Masonic Hall. No definite date could be given when work would be proceeded with, but it was hoped that the matter would receive attention at the earliest possible moment. The dental clinic was glso discussed, but it was agreed that 'a contractor was hard to obtain although some had been contacted. The dilapidated state of the fencing was also brought to the notice of the architect, who promised to lay the matter before the board. The committee was assured that the painting of the main building would receive early attention.
