SHANNON'S RATING SYSTEM

MR. D. FITZGERALD'S VIEWS In a report of a meeting of the Shannon Ratepayers' Association last Tuesday evening, Mr. D. Fitzgerald was reported to have stated , that the unimproved system of rating could be worked to advantage in Shannon. This, however, was incorrect,. as Mr. Fitzgerald favours any system of rating that would overcome the present prob--lems facing the borough. In an interview on Friday, Mr. Fitzgerald stated that the report might mislead the public with regard to his opinion of rating. He is of an open mind in the matter and would welcome hearing the views of experts regarding rating on both the unimproved system and rating on the capital value. The final decision, of course, would be left to a vote of the ratepayers themselves.
