JOCKEY HURT IN FALL

A cut and bruised face was suffered by A. Johnson in a fall from a horse during the running of the Levin Handicap at the Levin Racing Club's spring meeting on Saturday. Johnson was riding Marilyn and she stumbled and lost her rider at the end of the first furlong in the race. He had a nasty fall and was unable to ride again during the remainder of the day. Marilyn continued on with the field and galloped a further two and a half rounds of the course before she was caught. The mishap was found by the stewards to be accidental and was caused by Marilyn, who was pulling hard, getting on the heels of another horse.
