Press AssociationJ

(Per

WELLIN G-TON, Nov. 6. Opposition to the Workers' Compensation lnsurance Amendment Bili was strongly expressed hy memhers oi the Dominion council of Federatert Farmers today. says a statement issued ov the organisation. The council emphatically opposed the institution of* a state monopoly of employeiV liability insurance on the grounds that it cut across the principle oi cooperatxon so strongly aavocatect l >y the Government. The council believed also that such a monopoly was not in the hest interests of the puhlic or of the farming comnnmity. In particular the Bill was a definite attack on various farmers' cooperative insurance associations operating in New Zealand. m that sense alone the contempiated action of the Government was contrary to the platform of Eederated Farmers which supported the principle of cooperative enterprise prohahly more strongly than did various Government leaders who, from time to time, naci expressed themselves as practica: cooperators. It was decided that the federation present evidence in opposition to thc mll hefore the Labour Bills Commit lee, this to be done next week.
