SHOTS FIRED AT BURMESE PREMIER

Received Friday, 10.5 a.m. RANGOON, Nov. 6. Premier Thakin Nu escaped unhnrt from an assassination attempt when he was returning from the lioly pilgrimage. The would-be assassins' bullets killed a British soldier and wounded a BntLsh offlcer. When the shots were fired from tlie roadsids jungle on the Premier's station waggon, while travelling near military lines, none of the six shots fired hit the Premier's car. The attackers escaped into the jungle near Mingaiadon Airfield. The British soldiers wlio were shot were following the car in a jeep. Premier Thakin Nu was returning to Rangoon from a week of "penance and merit-making" at Ihe sacred Buddhist pagoda at Thaton after announcing the Angio Burmese Treaty details.
