WEEK-END RESTRICTIONS.
WELLINGTON, Nov. 6. The sale of motor spirits during the weelc-end is, in future, to be more rigorously eontrolled, aecording to a Motor Spirits (Week-end-Sales) Restriction Notice published with tonight 's Gazette. Under the regulations no for motor-vehicles (this does not include , launches) on Saturdays or Sundays ex cept to enable a driver to make or , continue a journdy over the week-end in vyhich he has travelled already not fewer than 100 miles, or carry out a journey as a matter of unexpeeted urgency on account of death, illness or business, of which the particulars shali be given, or for use under the authority of a liceuse to ply for hire, such as taxis, etc. The reasons given by the drivers of motor-vehicles to service station attendants for the supply of petrol are to be entered in the register along with the car number and these have to?be certified as correct by the driver and service station attendantswho will add their signatures to tltt register. Service station attendantsare responsible, with the driver, for tlu information supplied as far as the sta tion attendants can verify the informa tion by an inspection of the vehich concerned. The restrictions under the nev regulations are in addition to anything governing week-end travel which are included in the present week-end restrictions. The registers xnentionea previously will be verified by the Praffic Department 's inspectors and enforcement will be much more rigit. and searching than hitherto in respect of week-end petrol saies.
