Laboitr lost control oi ' Dundee," Paisley, Johnstone, Iioanhead, HainLton, Irvine, Annadale, Lerwick, Dumbarton and Bathgate. Labour captured control of I'alxirK and retained control of Aberdeen and Glasgow. In the latter city their overall majority was reduced to two. The Progressives (Conservatives) retained Ectinburgh.
