CHAMPIONSHIPS TG COMMENCE Activity on the Shannon Bowling Club's green over the past weekend was confined more or less to practice. games. The players have been grouped into senior and junior grades for club games and the following is the grading: — Senior: Collins, Knowles, Bovis, E., L. and R. Hook, Edmonds, Bateman, Batt, Hemmingsen, Pope, Norris, Thorne, Morrison, Peni, Roach, Bibby, Bell, Fitzgerald, Spencer, Karena, Birss, Picard. Junior: Jones, Thomson, Higgie, Crawford, Harding, Patrick, Burtt, Ritchie, Harris, Robinson, McKenzie, Lind. Ladies' Club Formed An enthusiastic meeting of all interested in the formation of a ladies' section of the Bowling and Croquet Club was held in. -the Council Chambers'. on Monday evening, when there was a good attendance. Several of the men players w.ere present to outline the game to the ladies, and it was unanimously decided to form a ladies' section. Mrs. D.- Fitzgerald was appointed captain and secretary. Already there are some fourteen jplayers • enrolled as members, and It is expected. that a larger membership' will--fesult as soon as other ladies . 'beconip interested. It was agreed; that ' jTuesday afternoon of each tveek be set aside as ladies' day and the first day on the green was held yesterday afternoon, when all e-pjoyed an excellent day's bowling under the watchful eye of several men players- who were present- as coaches. Ladies' bowling is fastly becoming a popular game, and it is hoped that the local club will have outstanding success during the coming season.
