Beach Church Hall The annual bring-and-buy afternoon conducted by All Saints' Church was held in the Beach Hall on Saturday. Favoured by good weather and the help of a I j'ree bus, the weather was excelllent. The function was opened at : 2 p.m., by the vicar, Canon H. E. K. iFry, who welcomed those present land spoke of the difficulties experilenced in completing the work on 5 the hall. Good business resulted Tn the addition of £75 to the funds. Thanks ar.e due to all who contributed to the success of the function. Farewell Pai*ty A farewell party was recently held at St. Luke's Hall, Waikanae, to honour Mrs. Swaysland, ! who has now left the "district. There . was a large gathering. Mr. L. Brown spoke in glowing terms of Mrs. Swaysland's services to the community of which she has always been an honoured member, and presented her with a travelling case and a substantial chsque. Mrs. Deakin expressed the keeii regret of members of the Waikanae Women's Institute at the prospect of losing Mrs. Swaysland
from their branch, and thanked her for many services, afterwards jPresenting her with a bouquet and | spray of choice blooms in token of their esteem. The vicar spoke on 1 behalf of the Anglican community, ! mentioning Mrs. Swaysland's splendid work for St. Luke's ' Church, which had been much appreciated by his predecessors as iwell as by himself. They were all ! very sorry to lose her from the district, but they wished her happiness in her new sphere. - — 11 ' J
