LENGTHENING OF SWIMMING " BATHS 45 The work of lengthening the baths was iiot far away, said the Mayor, Mr. H. B. Burdekin at the armual meeting of the Levin Amateur. Swimming and Life-saving Club, hold in L'evin last night. For some years the borough council hau held a sum of over €300 ih a speoial account for the extension of the baths. Mr. Burdekin suggesteed that a street day might be used as a means of raising part of the additional funds required for this work. It was gratifying to hear, Mr. Burdekin's commehts, said the retiring president, Mr. N. D. Tilley. He was sure the club's committee would giv.e the matter every consideration, " •• The president, Mr. D. P. Todd, •- suggested that parents of the , children bsing the baths should comhine wihh the cluh in raising the money and extend the baths with yolntary labour. The' extension of he baths from the present length of 25 yards to 33 1/3 yards would mean that Levin could hold championship events in common with other towns. The club's balance sheet revealed that there was now £81 10s in a separate account for the work of improving the electric lighting facilities at the baths when the swimming pool was- lengthened.
