the first life member of the ciub, From then until the meeting last night no other member hah been given this honour, Prior to this information being disclqsed it was decided that Messrs. H, J > Jones and N. D, Tifiey shouid be elected life members. They now hold this position With Sir Bernard Freyberg, V-C, .Thanking the members on his own and Mr. TiUey's behalf, Mi% Jones said that during his 23 years. as a school teacher in Levin he estimated that he had taught 100Q children to swimOne of the many interesting and amusing extracts from the minute book was a recor'd of a trophy donated in January, 1912, by the then Mayor of Levin, Mr. B. R. Gardener, for the first member to enter the baths after the Coronation Club was formed. The only conditions were that the member should wear coat, v.est, trousers, lace-up boots. and shirt, There is no record of the . winner of this trophy. . X1 , . tee meetings as set out m the minute book. "Meeting held in Tea Rooms, December 18, 1923. Present: Misses Pink and Phillips and Messrs. Jones (chair), Adams, Carmichael, Redfern an'd Parsons. The eyents for the carnivai were set out in order. It wa.s decided that the next meeting should be held op January 3, 1924. This being all the business, the meeting was closed." "Meeting held ih Tea Rooms January 3, 1924. Present: Misses Pink a'nd Phillips, and Messrs. Jones (chair), Redfern and Parsops. A few items in connection with the forthcomfng carnivai were discussed. Meeting closed." "Meeting held in Tea Rooms January 8, 1924. Present: Misses Pink and Phillips and Messrs, Redfern, Carmichael (chair) , and Humphrey. Arrangements were made for lighting, music and notifying offlcials, etc. No business. Meeting closed."
