CHEQUES FOR WAR DAMAGE
Received Ylonday, 7.30 p.m. LOXDOX, Nov. 3. Cheques and orders for about £100,000,000 will be sent out 011 Xovember 10, in the lirst bulk issue of payrnents from the War Damage Commission covering 140,000 properties which were totally destroyed by enemy action, says tlie Daily Express. Total payments of £170,000,000 have linally to be paid lor 216,000 properties. The payments include an increase of 45 per cent. over 1939 values and interest at 21 per cent. yearly from the date of tlie damage.
