WELLINGTON, Nov. 1. Pleading guilty to a charge of being mtoxicated while in charge of a motoi ear James Duff Hewett, aed 56, an airfields inspector, was fined £15 in the Magistrate's Court today and his licence was suspended for 12 months. The ptilice said accused had reported in person to the police station that his car had been stolen. A constable accohipanied accused and found that the car was still in the street. As he appeared to be intoxicated he was wariied not to drive it away. Hewett, however, got into the car and he was arrested. Counsel for accused aslted- for the utmost clemency as Hewett was in a poor state of health and would be badlv affected by the vibration of trams. The Magistrate (Mr. A. W. Goulding) told accused that if he must have a car in the interests of his health he could apply to the proper authority "f or a review of the suspension of his licence.
