Hack Cup Goes To The Stormovik

The Rangitikei Racing Club's Spring meeting was held in fine thougli cold weather and the course, following rain earlier in the week, was in really splendid order. The attendance was large and the totalisator handled £38,836 10s, compared with, £42,533 last year, the decrease in the tnrnover being £3696 10s. The feature race of the' day was that for the Rangitikei Cup and the winner was the Otaki- trained gelding, Master Raymond, which, last year, • won at Bulls and'paid a seiisational dividend. Master Raymond 's , cup dividend was oue of the best of the day.

Master Raymond Finished Too Well For Ngakoti A furlong from lioine Ngakoti looked a likelv winner oi: the Kangitikei Cup but tlien Master Kaymoud caine with a great run and he won by the best part of a length from Ngakoti threequarters of a lengtli in front ot Argumentative. The winner paid over, a'score. A year ago Master Raymond won a division of the lhaiden race on the same course and paid uearly a cen- i tury and a half. The field was away to a good start. the early pace being made by Prince Revel from Foxella, Argumentative, Ngakoti, Lowry Bav, Master Raymond, Top >Shot, Alright and Sakuntala. Tliore was little cluuige a't the half mile and Prince Revel, Foxella and Ngakoti ■ wero in liue into the str.aight where Ngakoti soon took charge. He looked ! a winner uutil Master Raymond came with a brilliant run to beat Ngakoti by nearly a lengtli.
