WATER TESTS FOR GIANT U.S. FLYINGBOAT

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 1. Mr. Howard Hughes, the millionaire aireraft builder and film producer, announced yesterday that his 200-ton flying-boat, which has been the subjact of a Congressional inquiry, would leave its dock for ihe lirst water test today. The flying-boat has a wing-span of 320ft. A spokesman for Mr. Hughes said' the aireraft would not fly for months. Taxi tests would be held to determine its airflow and water eharacteristics. I'iloting the flving-boai would be like learning to fly over again, because, apart from the craft's size, the pilot must accustom himself to a remote control operation which involved a small time lag from the moment he touehed the controls.
