GREYMOUTH, Oct. 31. The selection of Mr. James Begg Kent, the senior member of the Greymouth Borough Council, and of many West Coast lotjal hodies, as the Labour candidate for Westland, replacing Mr. Ware who withdrew on account of iliness, was announced tonight. Mr. Kent, who is 58, is a memher oi the national executive of the Labour Party representing the Coast districts
and has served as chairman of the Greymouth Harbour Board, Grey Power Board, Grey Technical School Board, Grey Hospital Board, Grey Fire Board and is a memher of the Westland Licensing Committee. He has been Deputy Mayor of Greymouth on a numher of occasions and was one of the original members of the old Social Democrat Party, the forerunner of the New Zealand Lahotir Party. He has heen prominent in many sports organisations on the West Coast and served as pr^-i-'lent of the Council. of Sport for the pi . -"8.
