RELIGIOUS FILMS HELP WORK OF CHURCH
CHRISTCHURCH, Oct. 31. Reports of experiments in the use of films for religious purposes, were given by several ministers in a debate on the visual education cominittee's report at the Presbyterian Assembly today. ' ' There is a lack of good religious sound films so far but the committee has a iine film strip lending library,'' said R-ev. R. F. Beliner, conveiier. "New films are being obtained, some from overseas and some made by the committee. TypiC£|d of these is a good informative film strip on new housing in^ New Zealand." "The ehurch is becoming aware of the edueational value of the film strip," said Rev. J. W. Olliver, who gave instances of their use especially in youth work. Secular films could be used for religious purposes if an introduction or follow up was added. " We have had a wire that new religious films are on the way from England," said Rev. W. B. Weir Black, a member of the New Zealand Religious Film Society. The society is endeavouring to build up a full lending library of mbving film and film strips.
