FALL IN PURCHASING POWER
Received Wednesday, 7 p.m. LONDON, Oct, 29. Mr. Dalton, in the Commons, replying to a question about the purchasing power of the pound sterling, said that if the value in 1900 was taken as 100, the estimated suhsequent changes had been: 1910, 95; 1930, 58; 1940, 50. The figure for 1946, over the whole field of eonsumers' expenditure, was 29.
