POWER BOARD TO USE RADIO COMMUNICATION / Soon after Christmas the Horowhenua E^eptrie Power;. .... Board's trucks will he equipped with' twoway radio communication. This was decided upon at yesterday's meeting of the board after a report . had ' been received from the engineer, Mr. J. F. Bryce, It was considered that a satisfactory system for the board would consist of a fixed base station at Levin and seven or eight mobile sets fitted to the various vehicles, said Mr. Bryce. Some time ago a radio transmitter receiver had been purchased from the War Assets Realisation Board for trial. This had been tested and found to give satisfactory communication over the portions of the area requiring cov.erage, It was estimated that the purchase price of the equipment wouid be about £350. Mr. Bryce pointed out that it was being offered by War Assets at a price which was only 10 per cent. of the actual cost. The sets had been in use by other boards and had been found to give satisfactorv service.
