NATIONAL COUNCIL MEETS.

WELLINGTON, Oct. 22. . The chairman of the Aid to Britain national eouneil, Mr. E. P. Walsh, stated to-day that the council's eampaign was now being widely extended throughout the Dominion with the settiug up of district Aid to Britain comuiittees. A wide variety of topics relating to the eampaign was discussed at a full meeting of the national council held in Wellington. The response to the national council's request to mayors of other towns and centres to eall district conferences on a parallel basis to the August national conference, had been very good. "It was encouraging to learn that the fertiliser output has increased in the Soutli Island works, but the council must renew its appeal for more Jabour in this industry," said Mr. Walsh. ' 1 The supply of sacks also presents a difliculty and most works are now using paper bags. Information supplied by the Department of Agriculture shows that there are good supplies of paper bags on Land but as tliese hold only half as much as sacks, the output is accordingly slowed down. ' ' Mr. Walsh added that after a diseussion rcgarding priees paid for fats in 1 New Zealand and those reeeived for tallow, both edible and inedible, froin the L'nited Kingdom, it was decided to refer the question to the Economie Stabilisation Commission for exaniination. Other questions under investigation included proposals and suggestions for increasing meat exports, the use of serpentine super, the shortage of eliou moellier seed, the shortage of milk I cans, the prices paid for pigs, and publicity. ! An offer of full support for the Aid j to Britain eampaign by the Iudian ! Oentral Association of New Zealand, was reeeived with thanks by the J council.
