• — - « PROGRESS OF DEVELOPMENT REPORTED TO COUNCIL The development to date of the proposed camp site and recreaoional area at Playford Park was reported .to Monday , night's meeting of the Levin Borough Council by the chairman of the Playford Park Committee, Cr. F. E. Parker. The report detailed the work done since the first meeting on the site of the proposed sub-division with the copimittee and adjoining owners. At the second meeting it* had been resolved that Queenwood Road be extended to give. entrance to Playford Park to the northern boundary of the site, that the entrance be splayed and the gate be so constructed as to facilitate the entrance of caravans. The committee also recommended that the extensioh from Queenwood Road through the park be 66 feet in width, comprising a twoway road, each road being separated by a 14-foot centre for a row of phoenix ' palms. There would also be provision for twb outer footpaths and two inner footpaths on each side of the phoenix palms. • Later it recommended that negotiations be made to extend Queenwood Road to Liverpool Street, and the provision on the camping site of at least four hutments, when materials are available, for rental to campers. It also suggested that at a suitable time designs be sought for the best layout of the park for the purposes of beautification and recreation, and that such designs provide for a native bush section. Finally, that application be made for a grant towards the cost of creating the recreational facilities at the park. A suitable nanie would also be required "for the extension to 'Queenwood Road. Following the reading of the report, Cr. W. Telford congratulated Cr. Parker on' the initiative shown in the compilation of the report. • Cr. Parker, in reply, stated that he had been backed by a good committee, including Cr. Telford, and that the credit was not solely due to his (Cr. Parker's work) . The Mayor, Mr. H. B. Burdekin. said that the council was indebted 'to Cr. Parker and his committee. He would be pleased to recommend that the council accept the committee's recommendations.
