Issue of Ration Books At the elose of business yesterday-^ the Levin Post Offiee had issued a total of 3746 ration books, stated the postmaster, Mr. L. A. Whitham, today. There were a further 4000 books to be dealt with in the remaining four days and it was inevitable that there would be a heavy last-minute rush. He made a further appeal to residents not to delay in making application for their new books. TJnusual Piston Rings Purchasing a second-hand motorear in Dunedin, the new owner drove it to Christchurch recently. It was not until the car had been over-hauled by a Christchurch firm that an unusual discovery was made in the engine. When one of :he pistons was removed from the car, it was seen that the piston rings usually- made of a special metal, consisted of nothing more than ordinary copper wire twisted to- the required thickness.
