WELLINGTON*, Oct. 20.. Tentative arrangemehts for the proposed tour of Australia "and New Zealand next year by a French • Rugby team, were disciissed this afternoon by the' New Zealand Bugby Football Unioii management eommittee and two Australian delegates, Messrs A. W. Venimore (Queensland)' and F. J. Herlihy (New South Wales)^ A letter was reeeived from the French Bugby Federation stating that t'he French team would p.robably leave Fi-anee about May lb' and would want to be back by. the middle' of September. It was decided to -pla'ce transport arrangements in the hands of a travel agency. The ehairman, Mr. S. S. Dean, said that because of the uncertainty in respect of travel arrangements, it would uot be possible to decide upon the itinerary for the tour in. the meantime. The Austfalian delegates said they would like to have the French team in their couritry in June. Such visit would be along the -same lines as that of the 1937 Springboks who played nine inatches in Australia before coming to New Zealand. Mr. T. Parker commerited that this would leaye. only six weeks for New Zealand. ... Messrs Yenimore, and Herlihy raised the question whether, in view of the shortness of the tour, it would be advisable to allow the customary clear week before each test match. It was decided fo leave that question open in the meantime. It will probablv be discussed at the Imperial confer- i ence, London, which' Australian dele- j gates will attend together with the New Zealand representatives, Messrs F. Sutherland (Auckland) and G. A. Maddison, who are en route to England in Rimutaka.
