T ha Arab League's" SecretaryGfeneral, Azzam Pasha, stated at Beirut today that the league council had .decided to close the frontiers of all Arab countries to- the Jews, and adopted a number of ofcher resolutions "increasing the economic pressure on the Jews by boycott." The league's secretariat was instructed to prepare a note to Britain, France, Russia and the United States demanding the independence of Libya under Arab trusteeship. The meeting voted . support to Egypt in demanding the evacuation of all the British. A Jerusalem message says that over, 100 Arab sheiks from the Beersheba district of Southern Palestine met and pledged support for the Arab Higher Committee. They decided to form an army and sent a telegram to the Grand Mufti saying: "We are with you in the defence of our country."
