* m FINALS ALMOST GOMPLETED With the 1947 badminton season drawing to a close, the. Shannon Club has been busily engaged in playing off its annual championships. The men's open championship was won this season by V. E. Tippler, and the ladies'(open championship by Miss Joyce Pigott. The results of matches played in the competitions last week .were as follows: — Men's open championship. — Semi-finals: V. E. Tippler defeated G. Fitzgerald 15 — 13, L. Burling defeated O. Tippler 15 — 5. Final: Tippler defeated Burling 21 — 3. Ladies' open. championship.— Semi^flnals: Miss M. Fuller defeated Miss S. Sunley 15 — 10, Miss J. Pigott defeated Miss J. Parr 15 — 14. Final: Miss Pigott' defeated Miss Fuller 21—18. Men's ' handicap singles. — Semifinals: G. Fitzgerald defeated S. E. Hyde 15 — 5, V. E. Tippler defeated A. S. Hyde 15 — 10. Final: Tippler defeated Fitzgerald 21 — 10. As there araAtill matches to be played in the ladies' handicap singles the result is undecided. In the semi-finals of the mixed handicap doubles Miss J. Pigott' and D. Pedersen defeated Miss S. Sunley and V. E. Tippler 15 — 5, and Mrsv A. S. Hyde and G. Clough 'defeated Miss S. Johnson and T. S. Downes 15—8. In. the- final Mrs. Hyde and Clough defeated Miss Pigott and Pedersen 21 — 16.
