WOMEN'S NATIONAL GOLF TOURNAMENT
HAMILTON, Oct. 6. Humid conditions with rain in the afternoon, were expericneed for the fourth day of the national wdmen's j>olf tournament when the third round of the championships was played. A feature was close contests in tlic games of the leading players, the champion, Miss J. Horwell, and the seeded players iliss M. Stevens and Miss E. Wilkinson, all being taken to the 19th. The former tennis champion, Miss N. Beverley, took iLiss Horwell to the 19th, the Matamata player ligliting back well when Miss Horwell had putting lapses after being three up at the 13th. Results: — New Zealand Plate Mrs. M. Towler beat Mrs. A. Stirling, C and 5. Miss K. Rutherford beat Mrs. S. S. Wilson, '4 and 3. Miss Iv. O'Sullivan beat Mrs. J. A. Thomas, 5 and 4. Mrs. R. Hutcliinson beat Mrs. J. Hatrick, 3' and 2. Mrs. Cassels Brown beat Mrs. L. Lucas, 5 and 4. Miss G. Gibb beat Mrs. I. Brewer, 4 and 3. Mrs. Colegrove beat Mrs. Cliapman, 5 and 4.
