ROCKET PLANE TO FLY AT 850 M.P.H.

Received Friday, 8.20 p.m. LONDON, Oct. 3. Britain's first attempt to pierce the supersonic harrier, ■will be made on October 8 with a pilotless rocketplane flying at 850 miles an hour, the Ministry of Supply announced last night. The rocket will he launched from a Mosquito plane flying six miles above the Atlantic Ocean off the South•west tip of England. Scientists conducting the test hope to gain valuable information leading to the achievement of controlled flights at high speeds. United States is known to be conducting similar experiments.
