PONY ENTHUSIASTS MEET

FINE PROGRAMME ARRANGED FOR SEASON The annual meeting oi the HoroWhenua Pony Club was held in St. Mary's Anglican Hall last night, Mr. G. H. Vickers presiding over a large attendance of members. A deeision was made by the club to buy badges for members. These will be blue and gold, with a metal background. All branches are asked to forward the number required as soon as possible. An excellent programme has been drawn up for the 1947-48 season. This will consist of approximately eleven rallies, the dates of which are as follows: — 1947: October 11, October 25, November 15, November 29 and December 13. 1948: January 3, January 17, February 14, March 6, March 21 and April 11. Copies of this programme will be forwarded tb all branches together with lists of rallies, for distribution to members. Any alterations to dates will be advertised in the local paper. The election of officers resulted as follows: — Patron: Dr. S. J.s Thompson; president: Mr. G. H.vVickers; vice-president: Mr. H. H. Marsh; committee: Messrs. J. J. Procter, W. R. Procter, R. Young, R. Mexted, W. L. Carter, G. E. Barber, A. M. Scott, and A. Webb, and Misses P. H. Fullarton, P. Brown and E. Higginson; delegates to the New Zealand Pony Club Association: Messrs. Webb and Vickers. The following events will be forwarded to the Horowhenua A. and P. Association for inclusion in the programme at its next show. Jumping: Shetland pony jump, 12 hands and under, for children up to 8 years; ponies, 14.2 hands and under, for children 12 years and under; ponies, 14.2 hands and under, 'for children 13 to 16 years; open, for children up to 20 years (not open to competitors in the three previous events) . Best mannered and best ridden mount: Class 1, up to 8 years; class 2, 9 to 12 years-' class 3, 13 to 16 years;- class 4, 17* to 20 years; all ages inclusive. General knowledge: In the same four classes as above, rider to mount, dismount, lead in hand, saddle and unsaddle pony.
