T\vo young Tasmanifin - girls, AT iaa Elaino Pearce and IMi.s.s Miriau Fraser, both of Ilobart, walked' unexpectedly into what amounted to alinost a civie reccption at the G.P.O. this nionling, when the Mayor, Mr. Appleton, and officials were launching tlie Health stanip canipaign. The girls, who are touring New Zcaland on biQveles, were imiuediately surroyndcMl by radio broadcasters, pressnien and photograjihers, and were presented with first day covcrs and invited to morning tea with the official guests. The girls, whcii tliev rcachcd W'ollinglqn, followcd their usual eourse "to collcet Australian niail by proceeding "hot foot for the main post oflice. " Tliev attracted attcntion wearing bricf shorts and wiml jaclcets. They estimate that tlve journey tlirongli New Zealand will cost tliem the modest srnu- ©f £60.Miss Pearce is a trained horticulturist and Miss Eraser is a mothercraft nurse. The objocts of the Health stamp campaigu appealed to tliem both. Ihie trip from Auckland to Welling to,n with a we#k at Rotorua, has tak-en 17 days and they said-thcv had been struck by the cheerfulness and patienee of the families who were eompelled to live in motor camps more or less permanently because of the housing sliortD .
