PARAPARAUMU NOTES

The Paraparaumu Women 's Institute held their September meeting in the Anglican Hall, presided over by Mrs. Hornsby in the absence of Mrs. Hadfield. There was a good attendance. In the Golden Thread series of talks Miss Wingate gave an interesting sketch on the life of one of the early pioneers of Masterton. The guest speaker for the afternoon was Mrs. H. Flanders, who spoke on the treatment of cerebral palsy, telling of many interesting cases of patients who had benefited greatly by treatment. She was warmly thanked for her talk and presented with a bouquet. The best flower competition was won by Mrs. W. H. Fitchett, and the best bowl of flowers by Mrs. Weston and Miss Wingate. Afternoon tea was served and the meeting concluded with the singing of the National Anthem. Mr. E. B. Hand, garage propnetor had the misfortune to break his leg when he fell from a ladder while cutting his hedge. He is now in the Wellington Hospital.
