OTAKI FIRE BOARD
QUARTERLY MEETING
The quarterly meeting of the Otaki Fire Board was held on Wednesday night. Present: Messrs. H. B. Edhouse (chairman) , Russell, Nicholson, Gimblett, B. H. Rhodes (secretary) and C. Sharp (superintendent) . Prior to the commencement of business the chairman extended a welcome to the newly-elected insurance companies' representatives, Messrs. Russell' and Nicholson, and truste'd that the board would , profit by their advice, and that their term would be a pleasant one. It was agreed that the matter of helmet requirements be left to a sub-committee. Accounts totalling £208 Is 8d, as presented by the secretary, were passed for payment. It was decided that a new battery charger be procured and installed, the maintenance to be left to the brigade superintendent to arrange. The secretary's financial statement to date was received and approved. Mr. L. Moss was appointed a member of the brigade. The superintendent reported that the last period had been a quiet one, there being no fires, and thatthe regular routine and practice had been held. The superintendent raised the question of personal insurance, and after discussion the matter was left in the hands of Mr. Russell to report on, after ascertaining details of the U.F.B.A. cover. The chief items of payment were: — Telephone rental £10 7s 6d, caretaker's wages £13 15s, new battery £8 19s 3d, fire engine loan (final payment), £69 6s, board's insurance £33 17s 8d, uniforms £17, secretary's salary £25.
