OTAKI ACES SPORTS CLUB
ANNUAL MEETING
The annual general meeting of the Otaki Aces' Sports Club was held recently and was well attended. The balance-sheet was presented by Mr. Wylie and showed the club to be in a good financial position. The activities of the club have been many and varied in the past year, members participating in four different sports — one outdoor basketball team (winners of Horowhenua B grade championship), three indoor basketball teams (the ladies' "Spades" team being unbeaten , three baseball teams (the men's A team being runners-up in the knockout and runners-up in the A grade championship ) . Fif teen or more members also competed with success in cycling, running and jumping events at the athletic meetings. Many members also gained the honoul of representing Horowhenua in all the sports played by the club. Altogether it was a very successful year and all members have enjoyed a good season of sports. It was hoped that more new members would be forthcoming in the new season to keep the club in the strong position it has
held for the past three years. A resolution was passed to - the effect that the club would assist to any extent required to help the War Memorial Committee to raise funds, for the building of a suitable memorial. It was also decided to make a donation from the club to the fund. Officers elected for the coming season were as follows: — Patron: Mr. W. Wilson; president: Mr. G. McKinley; vice-presidents : Messrs. D. Debrency, H. B. Edhouse, A. Quinljvan, C. Brooks, F. Eales, L. G. I Gimblett, E. T. Bartosh, E. Tooby, j and J. Masoii; secretary: Miss E. Snowdon; treasurer: Mr. H.> Wylie; club captains: Miss D. Scatchard ,and Mr. A. Brown.' The club cup, presented each year, was won by Miss E. Snowdon.
