Lucille Ball gives a convincing and effective performance in Columbia's bright comedy, "Her Husband's Affairs." In this merry farce, which is based upon that Ben Hecht story, "The Mating Call," Lucille has Franchot Tone, Edward Everett Horton and Gene Lockhart in support. Jane Wyman is recovering in hospital after the tragic premature birth of her third child. The infant, a girl, weighed only 11 lbs. and died after 24. hours. Jane's husband, Ronald Reagan, has been in hospital with pneumonia. The Reagan's two living children are Maureen 6, and Michael 2. When she conipletes "Daisy Kenyon" at *20th Century-Fox, Joan Crawford is leaving for Rio de Janeiro, on her first real holiday in 20 years. She is eagerly looking forward to the break, for in the past when she went on vacation she did not have one free minute to rest. She is taking her adopted children with her. Film actress Martha O'Driscoll, who was recently divorced by Lieut.-Commander Richard Adams after several years of marital discord, promptly married Chicago manufacturer Arthur Littleton. Before the pair left on their honeymoon Martha announced that she intends retiring from films and live permantly in Chicago. Martha's latest picture te "Carnegie Hall." Author Lawrence Watkin, of the book, play and movie "On Borrowed Time," will write the script of Walt Disney's leprechaun cartoon film. Watkins leaves Hollywood shortly for Ireland to follow up Disney's own research trip of last year. He will make his headquarters at Cobh Island, and use the facilities of the Irish Folklore Commission in Dublin. Bing Crosby has almost decided that Rhonda Fleming will be his leading lady in the screen adaptation of Mark Twain's book, "A Connecticut Yankee at the Court of King Arthur." Rhonda, you may remember, was the attractive girl who had a small part in the open•ing sequence of "Spellbound." She played a hopeless psychopathic who clawed at every man in sight. Formerly a photographer's model, Rhonda is 23 years of age.
