Big Manhunt In France For 73 Prisoners

Three thousarid armed pol■ce and speeial Seeivrity squads, with tommy-guns, are watchng all the main roads leading :o the Pyrennees foothiils for / 3 political prisoners who made a mass escape from Carrere Prison camp, near Agen. It is oeiieved that the men are atiempting to enter-Spain. They were serving sentences for col.aborating with the Nazis. Theaolice have rounded up twelve tther escapees. The prisoners eut the elec;ricity supply and overpowered eight warders last night, and sscaped in cars, which apparintly, according to a well laid nlan, had been left outside the ;amp aiter nightfall; Police reinforcements ar--ived in time to prevent the iscape of a second wave oi ibout 300 prisoners.
