'* jilny organisation which had for its major objective the encouragemenf of fellowship and* goodwill. was the right organisation, said Mr. Guernsey, speaking of the aims of Rotary. This year ROtary was trying to eneourage complete understanding . of the , United Natiqns. "As- long as there remain in the world ignorance, prejudiqe, an.d hatred, and as long as the cpmmunity . falls short of Rotary 's highest ideals, there is a call for Rotary service" said the speaker. Rotary stood today as. the leading exppnent of "doing something for somebody else." It stood for a' square deal for the emplbyer, the emplpyee and the public— and a fpir day's pay for a fair day's work. " "Every man should believe that his country is the best in the world and if it is not, he should try to make it so," said Mr. Guernsey. "Believe that the greatest th'ing in the world is "friendship, for when men are friends, strife and fiispute cease." Members of clubs from the whole of the southern portion of the North Island, including a .goo.d representation from the Levin Club, attended the meeting, which was held under the auspiees of the Wellington Club.
